How did you get started in swimming, and when did you first realize you wanted to pursue the sport more seriously?
My mother is a swim coach, so I’ve been around swimming since I was very young. For a long time, I didn’t actually enjoy it, but because of joint issues, I wasn’t able to participate in land-based sports. I was around 11 years old when I started taking training seriously and discovered that I genuinely enjoyed the hard work.
When did you decide that you wanted to study and swim in the United States, and why did you choose this path? Which university will you attend, and what will you study?
I decided last October that I wanted to continue both my education and swimming career in the United States. The decision was driven by personal reasons. I wasn’t satisfied with where I was in life at the time, and after a conversation with one of my coaches, I realized this was the right path for me. I will be attending the University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, where I’ll be majoring in Business Administration and Management.
Who has played the biggest role in helping you reach this point?
First and foremost, I owe everything to my parents and the people closest to me, who have supported me unconditionally both emotionally and financially. In swimming, I built the foundations of my work ethic and physical preparation with my former coach, Péter Hauer. Sadly, he is no longer with us to see this milestone. May he rest in peace. I also owe a great deal to my current coach, Árpád Petrov, who has helped me develop both technically and mentally. For a long time, I struggled to improve because I lacked those qualities, and thanks to him, I was finally able to take that next step.
How did Study N Sport support you throughout this journey?
Study N Sport provided incredible support from the very beginning by introducing me to the entire recruitment process. Whenever I had a question or concern, I always received a quick response. Most importantly, they helped me establish contact with the University of Indianapolis. The email I sent on my own never received a reply, but thanks to Study N Sport’s connections, communication became possible. Without them, I would never have received this opportunity.
What has been the biggest challenge on your journey to competing in college swimming in the United States, and what are you looking forward to most about living and swimming there?
The biggest challenge was earning a scholarship offer. For a long time, I didn’t receive any offers that truly fit my goals, but during the final month, several great opportunities came my way. As for life in the United States, I don’t have any specific expectations. I simply want to enjoy the experience and make the most of every opportunity. I’m also very excited to experience college swimming because I’ll get to see a completely different side of the sport.
What are your biggest goals as both a swimmer and a student in the United States?
My biggest goal is to reach my full potential, become the best athlete I can be, and compete in as many high-level competitions as possible. Academically, I want to earn my degree while achieving strong results throughout my studies.
What message would you share with young swimmers who are considering studying and competing in the United States?
If the only thing holding you back is the fear of being far from home or missing your family and friends, don’t let that stop you. They’ll still be there waiting for you. Don’t miss out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because of that fear. And if you’re worried that you might not like it, remember that you can always end your agreement and return home after the semester. You have nothing to lose.
We want to get to know you better
