How did you get started in shooting sports, and when did you first realize you wanted to pursue the sport more seriously?

Shooting has been a part of my life since I was very young, although I was introduced to it in a different way than most children. Hunting has been a tradition in my family for generations, and that’s how I first fell in love with shooting.

My first major step came when I was in the seventh grade and joined the shooting club at my former high school. Over the next two years, I won every amateur competition I entered, but I knew I still had room to improve. With the support of my family, I decided to continue my shooting career in September 2022 at PVSK (Pécsi Vasutas Sport Club) in Pécs as a registered competitive shooter. Thanks to my coaches, I quickly caught up and improved, and from that point on, my passion for the sport became stronger than ever.

When did you decide that you wanted to study and compete in the United States, and why did you choose this path? Which university will you attend, and what will you study?

In August 2023, I competed at the FISU World University Championship, where I met Hungarian athletes from my sport who were already studying in the United States. That experience opened a door I hadn’t even known existed, and from then on, I was almost certain this was the path I wanted to follow.

The biggest reason behind my decision was the fact that American universities successfully combine academics and athletics, allowing both to support each other. In addition, the outstanding facilities and opportunities available there create the perfect environment for achieving high-level sporting success.

When choosing a university, the coach and the team’s culture were among my most important considerations. With those factors in mind, I chose Texas Christian University (TCU), where I will study Early Childhood Education and Teaching.

Who has played the biggest role in helping you reach this point?

Above all, I would like to thank my family, because I would not be where I am today without their support. They have been with me throughout my entire journey. I am also deeply grateful to my coaches, who have supported and guided me throughout my sporting career, as well as everyone who has encouraged me behind the scenes. Finally, I would like to thank the Study N Sport team, whose guidance and support were invaluable throughout the process.

How did Study N Sport help you throughout the process?

From building my university portfolio to helping me with everything after officially committing to my university, Study N Sport supported me every step of the way. The process involved many small but important tasks, and their team was always there to assist me—whether it was communicating with university coaches or answering questions about the student visa process.

What has been the biggest challenge on your journey to becoming a student-athlete in the United States, and what are you looking forward to most about life there?

One of the biggest challenges was the uncertainty. Until you officially sign your agreement, nothing is guaranteed. Every day, you have to continue working hard both academically and athletically while maintaining regular communication with coaches and showing your progress. That constant pressure can certainly become part of your daily life.

What I am looking forward to most is the new opportunities that await me. Everything will be new, but I already know that the coaching staff and the team are incredibly welcoming, so I am not worried about settling in. The university offers outstanding opportunities for athletic development while also allowing me to build meaningful new relationships.

What are your biggest goals as both a shooter and a student in the United States?

The team has consistently qualified for the NCAA eight-team national finals for many years and has achieved outstanding results throughout the season. My first goal is to earn a place on the team’s traveling squad, which is a significant challenge considering the exceptional level of the athletes on the team.

With this team, winning a national championship is certainly a realistic goal, but continuous improvement—both individually and as a team—will be essential to achieving it.

Academically, my goal is to complete my degree and earn my diploma. If the opportunity arises, I would also like to pursue a master’s degree. Until then, my focus is on maintaining strong academic results and gaining the knowledge necessary for my future profession.

What advice would you give to young athletes who are considering studying and competing in the United States?

My advice is to dream big and have the courage to take the first steps toward making those dreams a reality. There will be difficult moments, just as there are in any journey, but in the end, all the hard work you invest in both your sport and your education will pay off. Looking back, you’ll be grateful that you had the courage to pursue this path.

The opportunities available in the American college system are truly exceptional and often difficult to compare with those at home. Believe in yourself, prioritize your athletic goals, and don’t be afraid to invest in your future.
