Navigating Academics: From Serbia to the USA

US universities will evaluate your academic performance from your four years of secondary school (Srednja škola). You will need to submit official transcripts, which must be translated into English by an authorized translator. Your Serbian grades (ranging from 1 to 5) will be converted into a US-equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. Visa and Travel Logistics: Belgrade to the US Campus
Once you receive a verbal scholarship offer and sign your National Letter of Intent (NLI), the administrative phase begins. The university will issue you an I-20 document, which is the official certificate of eligibility for nonimmigrant student status.
With the I-20, you must apply for an F-1 Student Visa. This process requires scheduling an interview at the US Embassy in Belgrade (located on Bulevar kneza Aleksandra Karađorđevića). During this interview, you must demonstrate that you have the financial means to cover any remaining costs not covered by your scholarship, and show clear ties to your home country.
